    I love this presentation and have so much respect for the presenters. However, it's distasteful to hear other professionals paint Therapists as incapable. Granted, there are bad apples in all fields, my desire is that we hold a place and respect for professions trying to help others in the mental health field. I also hear social workers put others down.......we need to stop doing this to ourselves, let's be supportive please.

    I hope my supervisor can do this. It has been extremely painful for me. My supervisor told me i should not take that intervention, and later identified me as defensive and not taking responsibility, whereas I was trying to figure out what's happening.

    I don’t know if forgiveness is necessary. My adopted father molested me and when I confronted him as an adult he never was sorry. All he could say was that “now that you’re a parent you’ll make mistakes too. I replied that what he did was on purpose not a mistake. After I started talking to my sisters about our father and his disgusting behavior my oldest sister reached out to me to tell me she too was molested by our father. Her exit strategy to get away from him was to get pregnant in high school by a marine. They got married and 6 months later had a baby. My adopted father also pretty much had affairs with my mom’s best friends and also his best friends repeatedly meaning multiple best friends. wives too. He was a hot mess and never felt bad about what he did. I literally watched him takes his last breath alongside his best friends wife whom he had been having an affair with while my mother was alive. I only know because I found a tape he had recorded for her( my moms best friend) before be died and let’s just say it was totally inappropriate! So some people don’t need or deserve forgiveness because they didn’t care who they hurt as long as their needs were being met. In my opinion forgiveness is earned not an entitlement.

      Even if it is not necessary, it is beneficial for the person forgiving to forgive them.

      @@msarilyn7677why? He cheated on my mother with her best friend and my godmother. I have nor need to forgive him. He never felt about molesting me or cheating on his wife or having an affair with his best friends wife. I don’t feel bad at all nor do I forgive him for having an affair with my mothers best friend not once but 2 different women. I am at peace and literally watched him take his last breath before dieing.

      I am perfectly OK with myself to not have to forgive him. Thankfully my BS degree had about 1/3 of coursework in psychology. I studied a lot and am an academic person. I’ve also have gone through ALOT of counseling sessions including a group for women who where molested or sexually attacked with a MFC counselor leading the group and forgiveness was NEVER part of the healing protocol. I had to listen to women who were tortured as children/ adolescents by male family members. Nothing like being gang raped by your father and brothers on a regular basis. I am not sure that forgiveness is necessary for everyone but it does work for many situations just not EVERY situation.

      @penniroyal4398 6 днів тому

      @@msarilyn7677not necessarily. I’ve been to many therapists and have a minor in psychology and forgiveness was never part of the curriculum or protocol and this was at a Christian University so we don’t have to forgive to have closure. We just have to have worked on ourselves and learn that it wasn’t our fault that we were victimized by people who were supposed to to protect us 😢

    I’ve just completed my first session, and it registered on the Richter Scale! We accomplished in one session what I have been looking to resolve in over thirty years of therapy. My thanks to Dr. Grand is immense - I can’t even begin to describe it. We’ve only hit the first trauma, and there are more to unravel. I can’t recommend Brainspotting enough. It has changed my life.

    40 min in it came to me that for forgiveness I first have to neutralise the belief that the wounding is in some way, MY FAULT. And then forgive and soothe the child and the present part of me that has that belief. Thanks for dedicating the effort to look at this piece.

    The maps study is for ptsd, not c-ptsd. Very different thing. misleading. No studies on mdma and c-ptsd as far as I know. Certainly not likely to be 88% remission from three sessions.

    In my therapy, I opened up. I had to speak words I never wanted to. Once I did… the “hunger” in my stomach, that popped up when I first awoke, when stressed, bored- … it stopped. Then- I had a flashback- my mom gave me a 2nd grilled cheese as a 8 yr old… and the hunger in my stomach, stopped. My body made me think my stomach hurt, needed more. Food helped! Hence, I’m the big-sibling. But what happened to me, didn’t happen to them. The shame- like you said- was a punch in the stomach. The negative words in my childhood- stuck in the stomach. As an adult, I’m having to fix it. “The hunger- where is it?!?” Absolutely- amazing.

    I just started last week doing brainspotting, I've experienced every kinda trauma someone can go thru I've been kinda struggling to move forward we tried emdr I dissociated badly with it, even doing 2 sessions it's definitely helped me sleep I've suffered from Insomnia my whole like ,today we realized I have alot high anxiety all over when he got to belt level I was calm when he would raise the pointer I would go pretty much into a panic attack but as he eased me back down slowly I felt better I'm very emotionally irrelevant all over the place it kinda made sense when he explained a Lil but of the process I've always since a child had to look low never really wondered why until he asked me .I Said it made me simply feel safe . He said ok we have our point he had to adjust the protocol a Lil I'm hoping this works I really like it do far but it's scary that when I get to my low point of calm I pretty much dissociate from reality. It's very intriguing 🤔 I love how the brain works. Even tho it drives me crazy 😆

    This is great. There needs to be more video lectures on how to actually treat covert narcissism. All I see online is demonizing the covert narcissist and blaming. Claiming it cannot be treated or cured. I don't believe this is true. In a way the covert is correct. Society doesn't give a crap about them and is often hostile to them.

    During all those years that she was sick, she never said anything to her doctors about being traumatized by her tonsillitis? I find that hard to believe. Either the doctors are incompetent for not figuring out the cause of trauma or this woman didn’t see any need to say anything about it. even if she did, even doctors of today had no understanding of the importance of resolving trauma. And the way, Dr. Levine released this woman from her trauma looks too simple to me for it to have the effect he said it had. Carl Jung discovered the importance of legitimate suffering and it’s my understanding that this kind of suffering is what liberates us from trauma. Jung said that “all neurosis is a substitute for legitimate suffering“. Jung also has to be a wounded healer. By that he means that the therapist must know experientially what legitimate suffering actually is. without it, there’s no way a therapist can help a person with trauma. You can have a PhD 10 times over and it would not make a particle of difference to any person suffering from trauma.

      I wrote this six days ago. I can answer my own question because I have been experiencing the equilibrium regarding the rest and digest system, which keeps the body calm and safe. This has impacted my mind, memory, body, and energy. It's a strange sensation to have, both calming and invigorating at the same time.
